First Stop, Graded Density Cotton
Water enters the filter through a graded density pre-filter to remove and retain solid and semi-solid contaminants that cause premature clogging. The pre-filter is a special blend of refined cotton that also acquires a positive molecular charge in a moving stream of water.

Since most colloidal and bacterial contaminants exhibit a negative charge, the pre-filter electro-kinetically adsorbs charged colloidal particles that are too small to be removed by mechanical straining. So the pre-filter combines mechanical straining and electro-kinetic adsorption for the removal of both larger particles and sediment down to colloidal contaminants in the sub micron range.

Next, Highly Compacted Carbon
Next the water passes through a highly compacted solid carbon block filter blended of activated carbons. This stage is designed to mechanically remove sub micron sized particles including microscopic organisms, asbestos, turbidity and super fine particulate matter. This “micro-straining” delivers the cleanest, clearest water possible.

Though the compacted solid carbon block filter is insoluble and chemically inactive, it exerts a catalytic effect causing molecular changes in many of the chemicals often found in today’s water. Combining this chemical reaction with physical adsorption allows the solid carbon block filter to remove or reduce to safe levels such substances as chlorine, certain pesticides, trihalomethanes, volatile organic chemicals and dissolved lead and mercury.

Our solid carbon block filters are exceptionally uniform and do not channel or bypass as conventional granular activated carbon filters (GAC) are known to do. Conventional GAC filters become incubators of bacteria, encouraging growth; however, the densely compacted MultiPure filters eliminate this problem because there is simply no room for growth in the tightly compacted carbon.

Last Stop, Pharmaceutical Grade Post-Filter
Finally, the water passes through a pharmaceutical grade post-filter which provides integral strength to the carbon block and assures the integrity of the seal between the filter and the housing.
